Many familiar solicitors in Middlesbrough have disappeared in recent years, with powerful national chains and claims handling companies sucking up much of their work.

But one of the town’s best known firms, Macks Solicitors in Middlesbrough’s Borough Road is bucking the trend and has invested heavily in a facelift for its town centre office and a striking new logo.

Middlesbrough-born and bred founder and managing director Nick Mack is brimming with confidence about the future – both for Macks and for the town.

“I have great affection for this area and very happy memories of growing up here,” he says.

“Middlesbrough sometimes attracts the wrong kind of headlines and we’ve seen a lot of legal firms forced to shut up shop here in recent years.

“But quality comes through and I believe that as long as you employ talented, honest and caring people, you’ll continue to not only survive but to thrive.

“I sense that our rebrand coincides with a new energy and dynamism about the town.

“You only have to look at what’s starting to happen in Baker Street, the new Digital City technological hub and the great things Teesside University are doing, particularly in the computing and scientific field.

“As a result of all this there are lots of new and vibrant industries coming here and we want to be a central part of what’s going on.”

Macks was established in 1995 and specialises in Personal Injury lawyers, including asbestos lawyers, medical negligence lawyers and work injury compensation lawyers, Family lawyers, Conveyancing lawyers, Employment lawyers, Wills lawyers and Probate lawyers.

The firm now has solicitors in Middlesbrough at its headquarters in Borough Road, plus solicitors in Darlington and solicitors in Redcar at its busy branch offices.

Most work comes in on the strength of personal recommendation from satisfied clients.

Nick says Macks’ success is down to the values he instilled in the firm from day one, coupled with the excellent staff he’s been able to recruit.

“I believe in going the extra mile and giving 100 per cent for our clients, leaving no stone unturned and doing our very, very best,” he says.

Nick brought in proven and experienced legal brains, but also people with strong links to the town, including some he has known for most of his life.

All share the firm’s strong ethos and a determination to do everything they can to get the best possible outcome for their clients.

Nick says the investment and new look underlines Macks’ ongoing commitment to being the best firm of solicitors in Middlesbrough.

“I really believe in the town’s future,” he added. “We’re here to stay and want to play a major part in the exciting things happening here.”
