Case Study: Treatment received at a Hairdressing Salon – Joanna’s accident

by Macks Solicitors

Joanna’s accident

Joanna attended a hairdressing salon to have her roots bleached. The bleach was applied to Joanna’s roots and left for 1 hour.  More bleach was applied and left for a further 30 minutes.  The bleach had been left on Joanna’s hair too long causing her hair to snap and fall out.  The damage to her hair caused her to feel depressed and she suffered a loss of confidence.

Macks – the Hair Claim specialists

Joanna contacted Macks. A member of the Macks personal injury team was able to tell Joanna that the Salon had acted negligently in several ways:

  • they had over-processed her hair;
  • they had failed to carry out appropriate tests on her hair prior to applying the bleach and
  • they had failed to warn Joanna of the risks involved in having her hair bleached.

Liability for the defendant’s negligence was admitted and compensation for Joanna was settled at £6000.
