The driver of a VW Passat estate was injured when her vehicle collided with a caravan that had become separated from its tow vehicle.

The incident happened at the Danby turnoff on the Whitby to Guisborough Road at midday on Monday 6th July. The woman driver, who was on her own in the vehicle, was heading away from Whitby when the collision with the loose caravan occurred.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to airlift the injured woman, who is not thought to be seriously injured, to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Although fire crews from Whitby and Lythe were called to the scene they were not needed.
