Boy knocked down by car suffers head injury

A 13-year-old boy was struck by a car driven by a pensioner early on Monday morning. The Staffordshire boy was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for head injuries.

Though his injuries were serious, police said he was in a stable condition, while the 70-year-old woman driver was treated for shock, but escaped unharmed. (BBC News, 2009)
