Compensation Claims

Cycle Injury Claims

Every year over 15,000 cyclists are killed or injured in reported road traffic accidents in this country. Cyclists are particularly at risk of injury from even the most minor road traffic accident as they lack the protection that motor vehicles offer drivers and their passengers. If you have been injured in a road traffic accident that wasn’t your fault Macks Solicitors can assist you in bringing a claim for compensation through the other persons insurance. If they left the scene or were uninsured we will still be able to pursue a claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau.

As well as remaining alert to other road users, cyclists must also keep their eyes open for ground level hazards such as poorly maintained roads, slippery surfaces caused by spillages, oil or mud. If you had an accident due to any of these factors Macks Solicitors will help you bring a claim for compensation against those responsible for ensuring it is safe for users.

Macks Solicitors are experienced in handling all types of personal injury claims on a No Win No Fee basis. Our specialist personal injury lawyers will assist you with your claim for personal injury compensation and guarantee that, win or lose, you will have nothing to pay and you will keep 100% of your settlement if your claim is successful.

Protecting yourself on the roads

  • Cyclists can do a number of things to reduce the risk of serious injury. Wearing a helmet will afford some protection against head injury and while it is not a legal requirement is highly recommended.
  • Wearing protective clothing such as knee and elbow pads, and clothing with reinforced protective patches sewn in to the garment.
  • Wearing reflective accessories or high visibility jackets especially in the winter and after dusk will make you more visible to other road users and may prevent an accident altogether.
  • Using cycling lanes wherever possible will take you off the road and away from heavy traffic.
  • Ensuring that your cycle has appropriate lighting to the front and rear.

Making a Claim

If you have been unfortunate enough to have been injured in an accident whilst riding your bicycle you should, if possible take details from any other person involved in the accident as well as details of any witnesses. Seek medical attention for any injuries you have suffered. Ask for legal advice from a specialist solicitor.

If you were injured in a road traffic accident and the driver was uninsured, left the scene without giving details or provided incorrect information we may still be able to help you pursue a claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau.
