Boy injured in forklift accident

A near tragic accident at work is now being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive after a boy of 12 years of age was hit by a forklift truck.

The 12 year old boy, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, was hit by the forklift truck last weekend at a stone yard that is owned and run by the boy’s parents. The young boy was immediately taken to hospital after the accident at work occurred and medical staff described his condition as being life threatening.

Medical staff has now advised that his condition has stabilised however, there is a possibility that the 12 year old boy may lose a limb, but the prognosis is not yet determined.

A spokesperson from the police department that carried out the investigation has commented on this tragic accident at work and said: “We thought it was going to be a lot worse.”

The last update on the 12 year old boy was that he still remains in Leeds hospital where he is receiving treatment for the personal injuries that he sustained.

This incident is being classed as an industrial accident at work by the investigating police force, who has stated that they are not currently treating this case as suspicious and are not looking for suspects.

It has not been revealed if the family of the injured 12 year old boy will pursue a personal injury compensation claim for the injuries their son has suffered.
